[AstroNet] Astronet hints and guidelines

[Astronomy education in SA - email discussion group]

Dear Astronet subscribers
 
AstroNet is proving to be a valuable resource in the build-up to IYA 2009.
In order to keep the discussion streamlined, herewith some pointers :

*	When responding to a message sent via
<mailto:astronet at mail.saasta.ac.za> astronet at mail.saasta.ac.za, remember
that if you simply hit the reply button, your message goes to ALL
SUBSCRIBERS on the list, not just to the person who posted the original
message.
*	If you want to reply only to the person who posted the original
message, you will have to copy and paste their email address into the "To"
field.
*	While Listservs are designed to share public information with the
whole group, private correspondence should remain just that -- private. Send
personal messages directly to individuals, not by way of the list.
*	Please include your name and contact details when you do post
messages on the list.
*	Always include a clear and descriptive subject line.
*	Provide Context: Every posting should begin with a clear
introduction to the topic, or offer some kind of reference to the topic or a
previous posting. Unreferenced postings can confuse readers.
