Hi all
To get this exciting year on the go we will be taking telescopes up
Lion's Head in Cape Town during the full moon next week Tuesday.
The full moon tends to attract hundreds of people to Lion's Head and we
will be there with a few telescopes to look at the moon as well as other
interesting objects in the night sky.
We will meet at the parking at the start of the Lion's Head hike (on the
road to signal hill) at 18:00 on Tuesday 22nd January 2008.
We will hike up in daylight, watch the sunset from the top (19:58), then
the moonrise (20:11), then look at a few objects through the telescope
(moon, bright stars, orion nebula, 47 Tuc - whatever is visible), then
hike back down in the moonlight.
Please pack your picnic suppers and spread the word to anyone you think
may be interested.
My cellphone will be the main point of contact on the day (0824878466).
Regards
Kevin
PS. Sorry to people far away from Cape Town who can't join us. Tip:
chocolate is a good treatment for any extreme jealousy that may arise.
