I've tried to find that email again but could not find it yet.  Yes, 
they fly!  I recall these were made of paper fitted with candles which 
make them fly like hot air balloons, hence looking yellow.  People 
launch them at ceremonies like weddings, etc.  It obviously can only be 
flown in windless conditions.
