Dear all,

Join the Soutpansberg Astronomy Club for an evening of stargazing on Saturday 29th October from sunset onwards. Everyone is welcome. One of the targets for the evening will be comet C/2009 P1 (Garradd) which is also visible in binoculars in the constellation Hercules. The three day old crescent Moon will disappear below the western horizon at 9pm giving us ample time to view our closest neighbour in space and the detail near the terminator. The giant gas planet Jupiter can also be seen rising on the opposite side of the sky and is a favourite object through a telescope. The four Galilean moons discovered by Galileo will be visible, two on one side of the planet and two on the other. There will also be plenty of deepsky objects to look at, one of them being M31, the famous Andromeda Galaxy which can be seen with the naked-eye. The light reaching us has journeyed over 2 million years, travelling huge distances through space. Further information and directions from Kos Coronaios on 079 148 4934 or by email at elephantcastle at lantic.net

Thanks
Kos
