-------------------------------------------------

The popular Kirstenbosch Star Walks are run by the Cape Town branch of
the Astronomical Society of Southern Africa each year. The first Star
Walk of 2012 is on 10 February, and will continue for the following 5
Fridays up to 16 March. They consist of a slow walk up the gardens at
night to the Erica garden, where ASSA astronomers are waiting with
telescopes. After a talk about light pollution and astronomy, people
can stay for as long as they wish and enjoy the night sky. We meet at
the lower main entrance to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens at 8pm. The
event costs R30 for adults and R10 for children. Proceeds go to
Kirstenbosch Botantical Gardens and ASSA, and a donation is made by
ASSA to an appropriate charity.

It is important to call the Starline on 088 131 1001 beforehand as the
event may be cancelled due to cloud.

All are welcome and there are facilities for the disabled.
