Good day

As a science communicator there are very few things that I find more
disturbing than watching a children's educational TV programme
broadcasting incorrect science information. To try and undo the damage
caused by such is close to impossible. As science communicators we need not
confine our selves to the audiences we see at our centres or at science
festivals, we need to start looking towards mediums which allow us maximum
impact with minimum resources. Most of us are already doing this but based
on a few programmes I've seen lately, we could do a bit more.
Below is a newsletter from a production company that HartRAO has worked
with in the past, they are always looking for interesting science to
excite their audience.
Lets share such links, and take science to the people.

Kind Regards

explores just how powerful the science is behind the fragrant and
colourful
world of plants and flowers.

Thami and Dee take a trip back to the Victorian era, where they discuss
"Floriography", the language of flowers and learn about the different
meanings behind a red rose and a sunflower! The "whys" and "hows" of the
colour and beauty of flowers are investigated and it turns out that
pollinators see flowers quite differently to humans. Flowers are
beautiful.
and it turns out they make beautiful clothes too! Love the smell of roses?
Dee demonstrates how to make your own perfume using flowers, herbs and
spices!

Dee and Thami explain how plants, being the only organisms that can
convert light energy into food also make the oxygen for the creatures of
Earth to breathe! On her visit to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, Dee
learns about medicinal plants you can grown in your own garden and s
