Hi all,

Limpopo Astronomy and the Soutpansberg Astronomy Club will be at Forever Resorts Warmbaths in Bela Bela on Saturday 6th April from around midday till 8pm. If you are in the area come and join us.

We will once again be focusing on public outreach during 2013. Astronomy related outreach at schools and public locations have always been a priority for the Makhado (Louis Trichardt) based Club and 2013 will be no different.

An astronomy outreach project, sponsored by the International Astronomical Union (IAU), through its Office of Astronomy for Development (OAD), will see the organisation visit a number of venues in the province as well as in the Kruger National Park. Appropriately, the province's capital, Polokwane, was first on the agenda with a visit to Mall of the North on Friday 29th March. This is being followed by Forever Resorts Warmbaths, Bela Bela, on Saturday 6th April and Checkers Centre (during the day), moving to outside Spur (in the evening) in Modimolle (Nylstroom) on the 18th May. Other towns to be visited are: Mussina, Thohoyandou, Makhado, Giyani, Elim, Tzaneen and Lephalale (Ellisras). Venue details will be made available as they are confirmed.

Astronomy related posters and information on Astronomy and where to study, as well as pamphlets, will be available. A visual display of cosmic and fossil history going back 2.1 billion years with a South African flavour, named "Fossils, Light & Time", will also be on display. Views through the telescope of our closest star, the Sun, can be enjoyed during the day and after sunset the telescope will be pointed to the stars and planets.

Contact Kos Coronaios at 079 148 4934 or via email at elephantcastle at lantic.net for further information or if you would like to include your venue and participate in this outreach initiative.

Regards,

Kos
