The Oxford X Archaeoastronomy Conference announces the free school
teachers workshop. The workshop is July 12 & 13th from 9 am to 1 pm.
The goal of the workshop is to familiarize teachers with the
interdisciplinary field of cultural astronomy which bridges astronomy,
history, culture, art, etc. The workshop offers a unique opportunity
to interact with international experts from this dynamic field. The
workshop is limited to 20 free pa rticipan ts. Please RSVP to

The workshop is in the auditorium at the South African Astronomical
Observatory. The Observatory is located off of Liesbeek Parkway and
Station Road. It is in conjunction with the Oxford X conference on
Astronomy, Indigenous Knowledge, and Interpretation July 14 - 18,
2014.

Organizers
Dr. Sanlyn Buxner, Astronomy Education specialist, University o f Arizon a
Sivuyile Manxoyi, leader/member of the SAAO Education and outreach
unit, which focuses on communicating and education the public about
astronomy, specializing using indigenous languages and cultures in
inspiring particularly the township based people to engage and
participate in astronomy.

you RSVP. Theirs is a preparation for doing cultural astronomy
