[AstroNet] Lovely Moon-Venus-Jupiter sight on Saturday

Look for the Moon in the west early evening Saturday 18th July - the bright
"star" above it is Venus, the "evening star".  To the right, completing the
triangle, is Jupiter.  We saw a similar triangle last month, but since then
Venus has moved up past Jupiter, so two of the "corners" are swopped.

The photos are coming back very slowly (due to low bandwidth over nearly 5
billion km), the next few will be released Friday evening 7pm (SA Time), at
a press conference you can watch on-line at NASA TV - www.nasa.gov/nasatv 

 

For Joburgers: the Astronomical Society of Southern Africa will be hosting
their annual Scopex Astronomy Fair - a day of astronomy talks and
demonstrations (including telescope-building), followed by an evening star
party.  Saturday 25th July, at the Military History Museum (behind the Zoo).
