<p class="MsoBodyText"><span style="font-family: Arial;" lang="EN-GB">The
South African Astronomical Observatory (SAAO) is the
national centre for optical and infrared astronomy in <st1:country-region
w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">South Africa</st1:place></st1:country-region>.
It is a facility of the National Research Foundation (NRF) under the
Department
of Science and Technology (DST). Its core function is to conduct
fundamental
research in astronomy and astrophysics by providing a world-class
facility and
by promoting astronomy and astrophysics in <st1:place w:st="on">Southern
Africa</st1:place>.
SAAO headquarters are in the suburb of Observatory in <st1:City
w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Cape Town</st1:place></st1:City>. The
main telescopes used for
research are located at the SAAO observing station near Sutherland in
the <st1:State w:st="on">Northern Cape</st1:State>, a four hour drive
from <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Cape Town</st1:place></st1:City>.<br>

graduate in Astronomy or related field with proven
experience working in an academic environment<o:p></o:p></span></p>

and verbal communication skills and preferably with

<p class="MsoBodyText"><span style="font-family: Arial;" lang="EN-GB">High
degree of proficiency in computer usage<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoBodyText"><span style="font-family: Arial;" lang="EN-GB">High
level of organizational ability is required<o:p></o:p></span></p>
