Max eclipse in Jhb is 11:03am, but it’s quite fun to watch the start of the eclipse too.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>For those without eclipse viewers, if you want to look DIRECTLY at the Sun, a double layer of Five Roses teabag wrapper foil, used for a few seconds, is safe. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Remember: if it looks too bright it’s damaging your eyes, and absolutely do not look at the Sun through binoculars (this causes permanent severe damage).<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>By far the safest way to watch the eclipse is INDIRECTLY, via “natural pinhole projection” – look for the spots of light under a leafy tree, lay a sheet of white paper on the ground to show them better. The spots are circles because they are images of the Sun, “pinhole-projected” by the gaps between the leaves. During the eclipse, the circles will become eclipsed Suns.
