AWARD FOR SCIENCE COMMUNICATION 2008/2009

 

The National Science & Technology Forum, in partnership with the South
African Agency for Science & Technology Advancement invites you to submit
nominations for the

 

SAASTA AWARD FOR SCIENCE COMMUNICATION 2008/2009

 

This awards forms part of the prestigious 2008/2009 NSTF Awards for
outstanding contributions to science, engineering, technology and
innovation!

The awards are annually handed out at a glittering gala dinner event.

 

WHO QUALIFIES FOR THIS AWARD?

 

Category K of the NSTF Awards is intended to encourage South African
researchers, writers, educators and communicators to promote science and
technology though conventional and/or innovative means, in order to raise
public awareness of

*	Science and Technology issues; 
*	how the quality of people's daily lives are affected by such issues;

*	the opportunities for getting involved in Science and Technology
issues; 
*	career opportunities in Science and Technology; and/or to
*	engage the public in Science and Technology in innovative ways. 

The award is open to anyone who has had articles published in any South
African print medium, and/or had insert broadcasts on any South African
radio or television programme, and/or who has communicated Science and
Technology regularly in other innovative ways (i.e. drama, cartoons,
exhibitions, public lectures, written books, etc) during the past 5 years or
less. 

Submissions are called in two stages:

Stage 1: Notice of intent to nominate

*	Register your notice of intent to nominate the candidate by filling
in the nomination form on www.nstf.org.za <http://www.nstf.org.za/> . Submit
it online by 12 November 2008.
*	Receipt will be acknowledged and a full nomination form will be sent
to you by email.

 

Stage 2: Nomination form and documentation

*	Complete the nomination form and prepare the supporting
documentation.
*	Submit the form and documentation to the NSTF by the deadline date
of 6 February 2009.

 

The winner and nominator will receive free travel to, and accommodation and
registration at the Third African Science Communication Conference in 2010.
