Those of you with telescopes, bring them along!

BUILDING OF STAR WHEELS AND MOONSCOPES: Bring the kids and build Southern Star Wheels and Moonscopes.

ASTRONOMY DISPLAY including a poster display of fossil history with a South African flavour.

The FOTON AstroCam will be in action attached to a 8" Meade LX90 as well as a 10" Meade LXD 55. Both telescopes are fully computerised with "GO TO" capabilities projecting real time images on a big screen.

In the image above the region around the star Eta Carinae 8000 light years away is visible and is a must to see in any size telescope. Weighing in at 100 solar masses and more, 5 million times as bright as our Sun, the star is so massive that if it were placed in our Solar System it would extend beyond the orbit of Jupiter. The famous Keyhole Nebula, a dark zone seen near the star, is prominent when viewed through a telescope. Light from the nebula has taken 8000 years to get to us.
