Hi all,

The Club's first astronomy evening for the year will be held on Saturday 21st January from sunset onwards. Everyone is invited and those of you with telescopes are more than welcome to bring them along. Keen photographers should bring their equipment along. The Astronomy Club will be operating from new premises and refreshments will be available during the course of the evening.

The SAC turns 10 in 2012. And NO, the world will probably not end this year, but if it does, then come and join the Club for an evening of stargazing before it supposedly all goes pear-shaped! Planets that will be visible on the evening will be Venus, Neptune, Uranus and the giant gas planet of the solar system, Jupiter. At 19:30 a presentation on Jupiter as well as live video views will be given.

A few of the deepsky objects that will be projected on a big screen during the course of the evening will include The Great Orion Nebula (M42), Crab Nebula (M1), Tarantula Nebula (NGC 2070), Eta Carinae (NGC 3372), 47 Tuc (NGC 104), and for the night owls Omega Centauri (NGC 5139).
